Project Compatibility
Projects that were opened in STEP 7 V12 SP1 can no longer be processed with V12.

When the user opens a V12 project with TIA Portal V12 SP1, he will be notified of the upgrade. The original V12 project will be retained (parallel storage).

PLCs loaded with V11/V12 can be opened with STEP 7 V12 SP1.
PLCs loaded with V12 SP1 (S7-300, S7-400) can continue to be opened with STEP 7 V12.
PLCs loaded with V12 SP1 (S7-1500, S7-1200) cannot be opened with STEP 7 V12.

Compatibility with other products

STEP 7 Professional / Basic V12 SP1 will work together with WinCC V12 SP1 and Startdrive V12 SP1 in one framework.

(please note the sequence of installation: STEP 7 V12 SP1 must be installed before Startdrive V12 SP1)
The TIA Portal V12 products STEP 7 (incl. PLCSIM), WinCC and Startdrive must be upgraded to the same version (V12 SP1).

STEP 7 Professional / Basic V12 SP1 (incl. WinCC Basic V12 SP1) can be installed on one computer in parallel with other versions of STEP 7 V11, V5.4 or V5.5, STEP 7 Micro/WIN, WinCC flexible (2008 and higher) and WinCC (ab V7.0 SP2).

The following virus scanners have been tested with STEP 7 V12 SP1:
- Trend Micro Officescan 10.6
- McAffee Virusscan Enterprise 8.8
- Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1
